"I was never hesitant to get help because my mother never sought help for her hearing problems.  I was determined not to miss out.  There is no shame in wearing hearing aids.  My mother used to play bridge and could not hear the bids because she refused to wear hearing aids. I wasn't going to be like that. If you have a hearing problem: get help!  As soon as I noticed a problem- I did.  I don't like to be left out of conversations so I made sure I got the help I needed.  My friend recommended I go to Gilliom Audiology.  I am so glad that I went.  I have recommended and will continue to recommend Gilliom Audiology to anyone who has hearing difficulties."  ~ Martha B.

"I couldn't hear with my other hearing aids so I was a bit apprehensive about coming to Gilliom Audiology.  It was a new experience.  This was unbelievable- it was the best experience I ever had!  I love wearing my hearing aids; it was the best thing that ever happened to me.  I would definitely refer anyone who needs help to Gilliom Audiology. They are outstanding!"  ~ Jerry R.

"I've been wearing hearing aids for 8 years, and I'm happy about it! Prior to coming to Gilliom Audiology, I didn't hear certain words and couldn't understand.  I blasted the television so loud it aggravated the family.  I didn't do anything about it for a while because I'd lived with it for so long, I didn't worry about it.  My wife encouraged me to look into it.  I ended up at Dr. Gilliom's office and am so glad that I did. She has made a tremendous difference in my life!  Since being helped by Gilliom Audiology, I could hear better on the job before I retired, and now I hear my grand 'young'ns, I enjoy the television and radio at  normal levels, and  I  hear sounds I didn't even know were there ... like the birds. When I talk with people, I actually hear them and don't just end up nodding.  It's a lot better for my wife too! They treated me great and fitted me with what I needed.  I figure if they treat me this way, they'll treat everyone this way. I’d recommend Gilliom Audiology to anyone!"  ~ Gail H.

"I couldn't hear my sister and had to ask people to repeat themselves.  I didn't want to accept the fact that I was losing my hearing.  I couldn't believe it because I was still hearing so I thought it was 'their' fault they weren't talking directly to me or clearly.  When I decided to come in, I didn't let anyone know I was getting hearing aids.  At first I was a little leery, wondering what had I done. - I am really glad I did what I did!   I wanted to see a Doctor of Audiology who has the training that they have at Gilliom Audiology.  You can go anywhere you want, but I highly recommend Gilliom Audiology.  It has been one of the most pleasant experiences I have ever had with a health care provider. They are not here to sell you a hearing aid; they really care about me and want to help me improve my quality of living."  ~ Gloria L.

“Dr. Gilliom, you were very informative and caring in your evaluation.  Thanks.”  ~  Jackie C.

"A year or so ago, I realized I had a hearing problem when I no longer could understand people on the telephone, listening with my left ear.  Because I am an active, busy 91 year old, I really needed my “ears”.  Where to find an honest, trust-worthy audiologist?  I attended a hearing-aid seminar but dismissed that group although I did enjoy the lunch served.  I received no references from my friends as they keep their hearing-aids in their dresser drawers.  I finally read an article by you in our local paper and chose you as my audiologist.  I’m glad I did because you were truly a professional in that you were attentive yet friendly.  I was happy with the manner you tested my ears and delighted with my new hearing-aids.” ~ Louise B.

“I knew I was annoying other people; I wasn’t picking up on things very well.  I couldn’t hear my son’s voice well – he has a gentle voice.  I’d been saying I need to do something.  I had talked to someone who went to one of those hearing aid centers.  I was leery about where to go because I’ve heard horror stories.  A friend of mine recommended Dr. Gilliom.  I’m really glad I came.  It made a big difference.” ~ Charles S.

“When I accepted the fact that I needed aids, I was concerned about selecting an audiologist.  I consulted my primary care physician and he recommended Gilliom Audiology.   I was delighted to find a warm and welcoming atmosphere in the Gilliom Audiology office.  I knew within a few minutes of conversation with the doctor that I had found the right place.  During the exam the procedures were explained and all of my questions answered.  I had no feeling of hurried.  On the subsequent visit to get my hearing aids, which were programmed to my needs, I was carefully trained in the use of the aids.  The entire experience with both doctors has been one of the most satisfying I have ever had in a doctor’s office.  Because of my good experience I have had no hesitation in recommending Gilliom Audiology to friends who complain about hearing problems.  Some had not realized I was wearing hearing aids because they are not visible.”  ~ Jean J.

"This is the first place that I've been that has actually given me what they said they would and it was what I expected.  Everywhere else has only made the sound louder.  Gilliom Audiology helped me to understand better!"  ~ Frank F.

"My hearing problem has gotten noticeably worse over the last 4-5 years.  My daddy, well, any time we were talking with him we'd have to get his attention because we always had to repeat everything.  I was doing the same thing.  It's embarrassing to have to do that.  I figured I'd better get something done about it. Several years ago, I bought some hearing aids from a hearing aid salesman and just never did think they were doing for me what I need them to do.  I never did wear them and kept them in a drawer. I read an article in the newspaper by Dr. Gilliom and I thought I would try it again.  I walked out of her office and they've worked ever since.  As far as I'm concerned she is the walking, breathing, living definition of the difference between a hearing salesman and an audiologist.  The visits to the office are low key and friendly and on-time.  I feel everyone in the organization is concerned about my well-being and are very professional.  I'm glad I got help for my hearing at Gilliom Audiology. I wish my daddy had spent a little of the money that he left my brother and me and bought himself some hearing aids. He would have enjoyed that- it would have made his life more pleasant.  I don't know how long I'm going to be here, but as long I am, I want to enjoy every day.  Being able to hear is a part of that."  ~ Jim W.

"I used to be an adjunct professor at a community college, and I wasn't hearing students in the back of the room.  I also sang in a barbershop harmony chorus and was having difficulty hearing overtones in the music.  I had my ears examined and hearing aids were recommended.  It has brought considerable peace in my family and my social interactions have improved. My wife no longer thinks I am just tuning her out.  I hear the minister better and am singing solos at church.  I have been wearing hearing aids for years now.  This is my third set.  I went to a professional to be fit right.  Gilliom Audiology has state-of-the art leading technology.  The audiologists take their time to really listen and explore my hearing needs to provide the best solution to make my listening experiences better. I recommend my friends and anyone with a hearing problem to go see the audiologists at Gilliom Audiology."  ~ Richard B.

"I was used to having a hearing problem and I didn't want to come here. I felt like it was the line of a passage to old acceptance of being old.  There is no question that my life is better for me at home, with my wife, watching television and in restaurants.  Dr. Gilliom is a conscientious provider and is very experienced with the intricacies of hearing aid technology and how it affects real life.  I'm glad I came to Gilliom Audiology.”  ~ Dr. A.S., Medical Physician in Jacksonville, FL
